Brain Raider + ClassLink

Rostering & single sign-on for your school or district

Get your classrooms connected

Connect your rosters, add Brain Raider to ClassLink, and help teachers and students get straight to their notebooks.

Rostering

Share the schools, classes, teachers, and students in your rollout through ClassLink Roster Server.

Single Sign-On

Give teachers and students a Brain Raider tile in LaunchPad so they can sign in through ClassLink.

Before you start

Have your ClassLink administrator and the person coordinating your Brain Raider rollout work through this guide together.

  • Administrator access to ClassLink Roster Server and app assignments.
  • Current roster data from your student information system (SIS) in ClassLink.
  • A list of the schools and classes that will use Brain Raider.
  • A teacher and student account available for your final sign-in check.

Share your rosters

In ClassLink Roster Server

  1. Open the application list.

In ClassLink Roster Server, open Apps and choose the option to add an application.

  2. Find the Brain Raider roster application.

Search for Brain Raider and add that application.

  3. Choose your sharing scope.

Select the schools, classes, and users included in your rollout. Check that each selected class includes its teachers and student enrollments.

  4. Review the shared data.

Check the shared records against your intended rollout, and confirm that access to the selected data is enabled.

Data sharing requirements

Share the roster records for the teachers and students in your rollout. Include the roster data required by Brain Raider's ClassLink application, including user email addresses.

Summary of roster records to share with Brain Raider
Roster recordsInclude
SchoolsSchool records and their ClassLink IDs, names, types, and status.
ClassesClass IDs, titles, school references, course and term references, class type, and status.
Teachers and studentsUser IDs, usernames, first and last names, email addresses, roles, school memberships, and account status.
School rolesThe user and school IDs that connect each person to their role at the school.
EnrollmentsThe class, school, and user IDs that connect teachers and students to their classes, with their role and enrollment status.

This is a summary; refer to the application's roster requirements in ClassLink for the complete list. Student demographic data is not required.

DataGuard: keep these fields unmasked. Share teachers' and students' first and last names, class titles, and email addresses without masking or replacement. Brain Raider uses these values so teachers can recognize students and classes and find collaborators by email.

Activate the connection

Connect your district to Brain Raider

After sharing your roster data, email support@brainraider.com so we can enable your district for syncing. Adding the app in ClassLink does not complete activation on its own.

First roster sync

After we enable your district, the next nightly sync picks up your shared rosters. The sync starts at 2:00 AM Central Time; allow time for it to finish before testing.

Ongoing updates

Roster updates sync nightly, starting at 2:00 AM Central Time (America/Chicago).

When you contact us, include your district name, ClassLink Tenant ID if available, participating schools, your ClassLink administrator’s contact information, and intended start date.

Set up single sign-on

Add Brain Raider to ClassLink LaunchPad

  1. Add the Brain Raider SSO application.

In the ClassLink Management Console, open Applications → Add & Assign Apps. Find Brain Raider in the app library and add it to your district's applications.

  2. Assign the app to your teachers and students.

Use your district’s usual assignment method, such as profiles, groups, individual users, or Roster Server permissions. Assign Brain Raider to the same teachers and students included in your roster share, then save the assignment. The exact controls depend on your district’s ClassLink setup.

  3. Wait for roster activation before testing.

You can add and assign the tile while setup is in progress. Teachers and students can sign in after Brain Raider has activated your district and synced their roster records. A visible LaunchPad tile alone does not mean the roster connection is ready.

  4. Check the first sign-in experience.

Once your district is active and the first roster sync is complete, have a teacher open Brain Raider from ClassLink before testing a student. The teacher’s first sign-in prepares their class notebooks. Then sign in as a student and check that their assigned notebook is available.

Verify your setup

Try a teacher and student account

Once the connection is active and the first roster sync is complete, work through these checks before your classroom rollout.

Need a little help?

The Brain Raider tile is missing

Check that the SSO app has been added and assigned to the affected user or group. Roster sharing and tile assignment are separate checks.

Sign-in works, but classes or notebooks are missing

Check that the expected class, teacher, student, and enrollments are included in your roster share. Confirm the connection is active and the first sync has completed. If everything is shared, contact us with the class name and what the user sees.

Some teachers already have Brain Raider accounts

Teachers can keep their existing personal Brain Raider accounts. ClassLink signs them into a separate school account, even when both accounts use the same email address. Existing notebooks are not automatically moved or merged.

To share an existing notebook with their school account, the teacher should first sign in through ClassLink once. Then, from the personal account that owns the notebook, open Settings → Collaborators and add the school account’s email address. Choose School if both account types appear. When adding their own other account, they may be asked to confirm.

Collaborators can view or edit notebook content, but sharing a notebook does not move existing student work into the school account. Access to rostered students’ work is handled separately through co-teacher sharing, which requires a school account in the same district.

A roster change has not appeared yet

First check that the change reached ClassLink from your SIS and is included in the data shared with Brain Raider. Updates are picked up by the nightly sync starting at 2:00 AM Central Time. Contact us if an expected update is still missing after the next sync.

What should I include in a support request?

Include your district, the affected school or class, the step you reached, the exact error text, and when it happened. A screenshot of the error can help; leave out passwords and unnecessary student information.
